Babcock Ranch Christmas Tree Lighting 2025
Updated: Sep 29
For Babcock Ranch's Christmas Tree Lighting, the goal was to hold on to the parts of the night that matter after the event is over: the scale of the gathering, the live program, the waterfront setting and the details that made the evening feel like itself.
Film first
The finished event film leads this story because motion carries the pace of the evening: people arriving, the energy around the program and the lights across the venue.
Project perspective
Babcock Ranch’s December Tree Lighting Festival brought food trucks, Santa’s tree-lighting moment and the illuminated boardwalk together at Founder’s Square. That transition from the live program to waterfront lights is the heart of the visual story.
The film and selected photographs are shaped around the change in atmosphere after dark. Establishing frames show the gathering in context, while closer moments keep the emphasis on the people who turned out to share the evening.
Holiday-event coverage has to work across a range of uses, from a short social recap to the next year’s promotion. A clear beginning, purposeful pacing and a small set of memorable details make that possible without overloading the finished piece.
Photography that stays connected to the story
The selected photographs stay tied to that same sense of place. Aerial views show the full event in context, while the performance image brings the coverage closer to the program itself.
A useful record after the night
When photography and video are planned together, the final work can do more than document an event. It gives the team a concise way to revisit the experience and helps future guests understand what it felt like to be there.
